We organise:
- two twilight sixth form conferences a year – we feed students at 5.00pm with pizza, flapjack, buns, fruit and drink – and then have two lectures from university staff. We are very grateful for the support given to us by these lecturers and sometimes professionals in other fields.
- an annual lecture with the Royal Geographical Society-Southern Region
- a Staff Development day at the beginning of the year, whilst we still have time and energy(!) Key to this has been the involvement of the Southampton University’s PGCE students. We also team up with the post-16 Geography Panel in Hampshire in the summer term.
- an annual fieldwork award for students doing geographical fieldwork, in the UK or abroad.
- an annual competition
- one committee meeting a year to minimise administration. All are welcome to our coffee and cakes evening in the summer term!
